Take The Bike, Prolong Yours AND Others’ Lives

All over the world, the healthcare systems are on their knees from months of dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. They need the rest of us to do what we can to decrease our close contacts to minimize the risk of spreading the virus.

However great public transportation is for the environment and better urban landscapes, it can be a bit too crowded for social distancing. Keeping 2 meter distance on a crowded bus or subway simply does not work. So why not take the bicycle or e-bike? Your bike is a great way to decrease the virus threat and add a healthy commute to your life.

During the spring, many people have changed their work situation, started working from home and stopped commuting via public transportation. As more and more countries are getting the corona-virus under control, many will go back to their schools and offices. From the society’s point of view is it imperative that public transportation and roads work so people can get to work in a road-safe and corona-safe manner.

Some people choose to drive their own car instead of taking public transportation and that is of course also good from a corona-perspective. But from an environmental standpoint or looking at the cost of maintaining roads it is not great. More cars on the roads will also contribute to congestion and make it harder for emergency vehicles to get where they need to be.

So, take the bike to work, to school, to the grocery store! And we would of course make an extra shout for the e-bike especially.

Research shows that in Stockholm, Sweden, at least 70 percent of the people can reach work in 30 minutes or less. Often they can get to work QUICKER by bike than by their own car or public transportation. Some people would for sure feel like they do not have the physical ability or they think of that big hill halfway to work or they are afraid of arriving to work all sweaty. This is where the strength of the e-bike comes in. You can get as much assist as you need when you need it. If the hill is steep, take the help. If you need to speed up but don’t want to get too sweaty, turn up the accelerator and take the help!

Biking will of course improve your cardiovascular health. Research shows that e-bikers are getting as good or even better results than regular bikers especially BECAUSE we dare to tackle the longer distances.
